TikTok Account Disabled — Identify the Cause & Recover
TikTok says your account is disabled? There are five common causes, each with a different fix. Most disabled accounts are reversible.
Types of TikTok Account Disablement
Age restriction. TikTok detected you may be under 13. Recovery requires submitting proof of age (a government-issued ID showing date of birth).
Suspicious activity / security hold. Unusual login detected. TikTok disabled the account to protect it. Verify your identity via the in-app prompt or tiktok.com/login.
Community Guidelines violation. Content violated TikTok's policies. Appeal via the in-app notification or tiktok.com/appeal.
Repeated violations / permanent ban. Multiple policy strikes led to a permanent ban. Appeal within 7 days for the best chance of reversal.
Intellectual property or DMCA claim. Third-party copyright claim led to account removal. Counter-notice is available if the claim is incorrect.
How to Appeal
Tap the "Appeal" button in the TikTok in-app notification, or go to tiktok.com/appeal. Identify which type of disablement applies and provide the relevant documentation (ID for age, counter-notice for IP, explanation for policy violation).
