Recovery Methods Without Email
Use your phone number instead. On the "Forgot password?" screen, switch from email to phone number. Instagram can send an SMS reset code if a phone number is linked to the account.
Use a linked Facebook account. If your Instagram was connected to Facebook, tap "Log in with Facebook" on the Instagram login screen. You can access Instagram through your Facebook session even without the Instagram email.
Use the video selfie flow. At instagram.com/hacked or through "Get more help" on the login screen, you can verify ownership via a short video selfie. Meta matches it against profile photos — no email required.
Prove ownership with account history. Meta's support forms allow you to describe account details (username, content posted, approximate creation date, linked Facebook, previous email addresses) to establish ownership.
Use a device still logged in. If any device is still logged into the account, use it to change the email address in Settings → Account → Email Address before doing anything else. Once the email is updated to one you control, you can reset the password normally.
